About NYOK

Photo courtesty Zach Pizza, 2020
Formed by Sensei Zach Pizza, NYOK practices Shorin-ryu Shidokan Karate, a traditional style directly from Okinawan, Japan.

Shidokan stresses using natural motion driven from the core (or center) to achieve to most efficient self-defense possible.

Our dojo is a member of the North Amercian Beikoku Shidokan Association led by Sekeichi Iha (10th Dan, Grand Master). We frequently participate in seminars with the association.

Current Programs

We currently offer classes 3 classes a week for adults and teens of all ages in Tribeca at 104 Reade Street (one block from the Chambers Street Station).

All indoor classes are set up for ZOOM participants to join along, with a TV in the training area so Sensei can see you right along with all of the students who are in-person.

Weather permitting, and to respect social distancing guidlines, we hold occasional classes outdoors in central park.

Monthly fees include unlimited access all classes (training is encouraged twice a week) and instructional/demonstation videos for your reference/practice.
